yes the council do know she is living there, she claims incapacity benefit from there, she is returning to work this year so will be liable for rent which she has no quarms about paying, i have not once said my nan is moving out, you'd need a riot team to get her out of there.

  • Sorry but I am thinking of what happens when your nan departs this world or has to go to a home - no offence but the situation could cause problems.

not if my mum is on the tennancy agreement, they cant kick her out  she isnt just pitching up, she will have her name on the tennancy agreement so when my nan dies or goes into a hom the tenancy will be passed on to her.
I dunno why you are going on about all this, my question was 'how do you put someones name on the tennancy and whats the procedure' not 'what would happen to my mum if my nan dies or went into a home as she lives there'

People and you seem to be under the mis-impression that it is just a case of phoning the council and they will automatically add the name to the tenancy.I do not believe this to be the case.
If you don't want to take on board what I have been saying that's fine.

i am taking on board what you are saying, and did i say all i had to do was phone the council? they were suggestions put forward, i will get her to phone the council and find out what exactly she has to do, the way you were talking was as if my mum is trying to con the council out of a house,
So there might be problems ahead.
It is not you nan's remise to sublet.
If your nan leaves then the house reverts to the council. They will decide who gets the tenancy. How would you feel if you were on a waiting list and had enough points to qualify for the next available house only to find out that a member of the family had 'jumped the queue' from nowhere?
of course you cant just add a name by phoning forms and tennancy agreements would have to be signed, at least 2 of the posters have done this and said it's fairly easy, she lives there so what problems really could arise:confused:

Astons, all you have to do is get her to nip down to the offices with your nan, all they have to do is to sign a little form and its done.

Did it myself a year or so ago on my mums tenancy.
