Anyone help on how to de-tangle a large doll's hair coz daughter's favourite :-)

I know this isn't a big deal in the scheme of things but wondered if anyone had any pearls of wisdom coz it is a big deal in my daughter's world :D
My daughter loves her doll but keeps threatening to cut it's hair coz it's sticking out almost at right angles to it's head. I know that this will completely ruin it and upset her even more but she doesn't seem to comprehend that it's hair doesn't regrow like hers does...:o

Ha, my DD did this just the other day!

She found a 'Barbie Spa Day' (or something like that) on Youtube, I can't remember all the steps for detangling the hair, but one was leaving it in fabric conditioner for half an hour, it made it really silky again, then to make it straight again we had to plunge it from hot to cold water.

It really did work, I'll ask her tomorrow exactly what the youtube film was called.

but if the hair is knotted and not just tangled then scissors may be the only option...

It's one of the Rosy/Robbie dolls you can get from Argos so a bit more work than a Barbie but will definitely give the fabric conditioner a go :D

Tried spray leave-in hair conditioner I use for the kids hair but this didn't work at all...

Avon detangle spray works a dream on my daughter's wild curls. Never had to try in on a doll (yet:rotfl:) though!

I flipping regret buying DD those damn dolls!!

I bought her two of them and the hair is awful. The cut is all over the place, really squint and the hair itself is like straw, so I know what a nightmare it is. I tried trimming it a bit to thin it out and neaten it but it tangled again straight away.

I will check back and see if you have had any luck, I slung DD's ones at the back of her cupboard so she wouldn't spot them too often :(

I have restyled many a Barbie doll's hair in my time and I'm sure the method will work for any doll since it's all saran or kanekalon hair. The fabric conditioner tip is a good one, leave it to soak and gently comb it through.

Boil a kettle and pour the water into a bowl, dip the doll's hair in it and leave for about 30-60 seconds, carefully pull it out and pop the doll under the cold tap and soak with cold water under the hair is all cool, comb it into place as you're doing it. The heat softens the plasticy hair and the cold sets it which is why you want to make sure it's lying where you want it as you set it. The hair should be much nicer once you've treated it. :)

Tip: if your daughter ever wants a doll with curly hair you can use the same method; get some small rollers for tight curls, pop into dollie's hair, dip into hot water, dip in cold water for a few minutes, leave to dry then when you pull the curlers out the doll will have fabby curls! :)
