What about donating it to the East Africa appeal?

Interesting suggestion, but I do feel that this is more of a personal decision; after all, the discussion thread on here showed much more extreme opinions on the subject.

I think as you found the discount code and considering the amount of work you have already made, with the lack of interest from other parents, that you should wait until you are sure your costs are covered then announce that as you managed to get a discount code you are doing x with the money that otherwise would not exist. I'm sure many others in your position would just keep quiet about the extra but can understand that you would not be comfortable about that. Are you still going to be involved in the school after your LO has left? Assuming you may only get the money from some on the last day of term but would still be able to provide whatever for the following yr

Make a decision; send an e-mail to the parents saying if they don't agree and want a refund to contact you directly before a certain date and add a reminder that you still have not received payment from x number of people. That should cover it!

Or why not tell the Yr 6 teacher you have this money left over and ask them to do a class vote as to a local charity to give the money too.

If the teacher has a couple of afternoons to still fill, it'd be a great way of getting the class to research local charities, find out what they do, present an argument as to why the charity selected is the best then have a class vote.

BTW - I agree when you're doing these sorts of things that you can't NOT do research to see if a voucher code is hanging about! MSEing is in the blood!

There's no time for that; they are gone on residential trip this week , which is one of the reason I probably won't see the remaining payments until either friday or next week.

I had a word inthe playground with the head this morning (I still have another at school) and she mentionned that staff are having a little party next week and one parent just donated a bottle of cava. She suggested that another bottle would be welcome as one won't stretch to all of them. Otherwise, drinks are always appreciated ( I did that on my own at Christmas for the staff room).

I also realised that I'll need money for a card and wrapping paper; normally I just dig into my own cupboard, but since I have the money, I'll splash out and buy it for the occasion. I don't like spending loads on these but I know many parents do and think nothing of it.

Thanks for your inputs; it gives me an idea of the potential reactions I could get (no outrage so that's reassuring:rotfl:) and ideas to mull over on how to spend it.
