eticket Issuing, Problems with booking?

Hi Guys!

Another problem!

I recently booked a flight online through an online agent (NetFlights) infact it was yesterday to LAX, I confirmed it over the phone and the agent said payment went through on my credit card, However it took some time to get the confirmation invoice through.

I am slightly concerned though in terms of etickets...I booked another flight just a few days before to Dubai and that eticket was issued almost immediately.

However this one for this next flight to LAX was not. I viewed my trip on 'checkmytrip.com' and 'TravelPort View Port (viewtrip.com)', 'checkmytrip' not showing the eticket number(s) but showing "Confirmed(HK)" on the booking where as viewtrip showed me an eticket number...

Usually when the ticket is issued too British Airways have a record of it on the Travel Itinerary, which at this time they do not either. I phoned up British Airways and they tell me that I have not as yet been issued with an eticket number and was advised to contact the agent (NetFlights) but when I contacted them, they told me it would be 2-3 weeks before travel that I would be issued with an eticket, travel to LAX is on the 20th August...Travel to Dubai is on the 9th November.

The agent informed me that bookings are in a ticketing queue, bookings going say for example...tomorrow would jump to the front of the ticketing queue whereas each other flight would be behind it, what I don't understand though is why this is happening?

I am concerned that something is wrong with my booking and I do not
know what to do

  • All tickets have a deadline which they need to be issued by, so if yours only needs to be ticketed 2-3 weeks before departure and they have a lot of tickets that need doing same day, yours will be pushed to the back of the queue.

Don't worry about it, if the airline have a PNR or itinerary on it, it will be issued in time.

Exactly as Johnny said. The ticket rules for Dubai may have said 'tickets to be issued within 24 hours' and for your LAX tickets 'issue within 14 days', so typically your tickets for LAX would be issued 13 days after you booked them.

If you magnify the amount of tickets someone like Expedia book, it's a well oiled machine to ensure a) your tickets are issued by deadline and b) that the company hold onto your money as long as possible before having to issue tickets / pay airline (that's a very simplistic, but important part of travel).

HK means your seats are confirmed. If they show HL or HX, that's when you start worrying!

Viewtrip shown you a ticket number as Netflights use Gallileo as their GDS to book flights.. Not Amadeus (Check my trip) so there is no reason they would have put a ticket number on Check my trip as they dont book their flights in this system. However BA may update Amadeus/check my trip with this info when they receive it. Don't worry at all. If you have an e-ticket number on Viewtrip and you can view your physical e-ticket, your flights are ticketed. Like the others said ticketing deadlines can be weeks or months after you purchase the ticket, they aren't always done immediately.

Thanks for that, it's all been cleared up now the only thing I would say about that is that I booked flights to Dubai with the same company (NetFlights) just a week earlier, exactly a week since I booked the LAX ones and they were ticketed literally 10 minutes after booking and had an e-ticket number in CheckMyTrip
