Hi
To cut a long story short I had no connection to the internet, although it was ok this afternoon. I tried to disable my anti virus then use system restore to see if this would fix it, but all I am getting now when I boot up is a totally black screen with a cursor in the middle.
Tried to start it up with the restore disc in it but it stays the same.
I'm a novice at these things and not sure what to do next. Any help would be great.

Just tried that and clicked repair...said it was all ok. Hit F8 again and successfully did system restore to 2 days ago... but still got the black screen.
