Charge for a free trial query

Hello,

A colleague at work signed up for an online free trial for teaching resources. He did not enter any payment details at the time but forgot to cancel the free trial and the company has now invoiced us for a year subscription for £600.

I know that it was my colleague's fault for forgetting to cancel the trial but seeing as we didn't enter any card details or what not at the point of taking out the free trial is it my wishful thinking to say that it is not legal to then charge us?

Does anyone have any ideas or could point me in the direction for guidance.

Yes.. it is wishful thinking .

Simply because you haven't paid for something or provided your CC details doesn't mean you are not liable for payment.

You friend has now entered into a contract with them, knowing they can cancel within x days after which they are agreeing to pay for a full year of the service.
