Do banks still offer safety deposit boxes?

Hi there, looking for a little help if you can please. I have some jewellry and important documents I'd like to consider placing in a bank safety deposit box if these are still available? if so, can you tell me how much I'd be to rent one? do you know which banks offer them and how to go about getting a box? I don't feel comfortable having these things in the home because they're very sentimental to me and obviously with my documents especially, I wouldn't want to lose them in a fire! what things can you legally keep in one of these boxes, not that I'm up to anything dodgy mind you!
Many thanks

Metro Bank charges

"Small safe deposit box is free for the first year for Metro Bank over-50s current account holders."
Note that they say this is no substitute for insurance. As discussed in the following thread safe deposit boxes aren't always as safe as one might expect.

Many banks are stopping the safe custody service - some small branches would only take non intrinsic value anyway - only larger ones would have boxes (which in most cases you have to supply).
See if companies like G4S can offer you what you want.0 -
Last time I looked I was shocked by their charges, and the denials of liability they include. Make sure you run any of these past your insurance company before thrusting them with valuables.0

What about getting a small safe for your home? This should be enough to deter the opportunist burglar, and a targetted burglary probably wouldn't come your way.0

Wouldnt a safe atract attention, i.e something valuable inside.
Best to play double bluff and put it in something non attentive.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
It can be.... but then some people have a visible small safe of reasonable quality but not well secured which they just put rubbish in. Then a second consealed good quality safe which is well secured where all the valuables are. Theives run when they have got what they think is the safe but everything you want to keep is still hidden away.0

Hi, I know Hsbc still offer this service, im not sure on the cost but i think its approx £30 per year, they do not provide the box though, you would have to purchase from a stationers. i think they charge different amounts for different sizes.
Hope that helps0
