Best place to invest £15,000

Options
I have just got my redundancy payment of £15000 and want to put it away where it can get some good interest. I dont need it just now as my other half is in work and I may pick up some part time work soon. I have filled up my Isa for this year so can't put it there. I dont want anything risky and was thinking about national savings and investments. I am not very up on interest rates and all that but wondered if anyone could point me to some good accounts.

Check out the 'Banking Saving' tag at the top of the page. I sometimes use MoneySupermarket, but with the Search All Savings Accounts option because it will show some offers that are not site promotions.

Perhaps have a think about some in NS&I Index-Linked, and the rest in either easy access or fixed term. The NS&I should give some protection against future inflation, but the others should offer a better return if future inflation turns out to be lower than expected.
Living for tomorrow might mean that you survive the day after.
It is always different this time. The only thing that is the same is the outcome.
Portfolios are like personalities - one that is balanced is usually preferable.

If your cash is locked up for a period of time in your ISAs and other savings, you are goingt o need to keep some of that instant access.

If you have instant access cash for emergenices, I'd open NST ilsc. 5 year term, but can be accessed after one year w/interest and no penalty.

Until you actually get a job, I can't advise putting it away for a longer period or into riskier investments.
