Norwich Union absurd rates
wassup
I recently moved house to an address which is less than a mile away. There are 3 cars in the family all insured with NU. I called them to give new address and all 3 policies had a substantial rise in premium because of the new address. I went to other companies online quote pages and I can't find another company that makes any difference at all in premium between the 2 addresses. Very strange. I wrote to NU to complain but got no reply. Needless to say thats 3 policies that won't be getting renewed with NU, but I'm still interested to know why they alone have got different rates for this address.

Perhaps they have a poor experience in that postcode range which the others havent had.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0 -

It may have nothing to do with the change of address but just a general hike in prices and your change of address gave them the chance to apply it. Last September I changed my son's policy from them after his renewal was substantiallly more even with an extra year's no-claims. And yes that was even after I had tried the usual trick of getting a brand new policy quote with them online. For the last 2/3 years NU have been the cheapest for my son - this year More Than was over £300 cheaper.0 -
NU were the first company to apply large premium increases this year. The RBS companies (Direct Line / Churchill) have since followed suit.0

My son just got his renewal premium from NU... £1200... after shopping round has got quote from another company for £600.
Bye bye NU
Still shopping though

My wife's insurance was with NU last year, and her renewal price was ridiculously high - now off to Sheilas wheels which was half the renewal quote.0

Most companies he asked gave lower quotes, but the best so far came from Adrain Flux.... https://www.adrianflux.co.uk0

Saying that, when I was looking to renew, I was getting quotes for around £1300, NUD offered it at £800! They aren't all bad!0
