coming back from maternity then made redundant

i was wondering although this happened 11 years ago, i came back from maternity leave and the day i got back i was taken in the office and told they would have to make either myself or the bosses girlfriend redundant. But if i was to take voluntary redundancy i would get more money. I was wondering wether they could do that?

    why are you wondering after 11 years, dont think you can change anything now. I would worry about your current job

    Are you querying the way they made you redundant, or whether they could after you'd been on mat leave?

    Either way, 11 years is too late to do anything about it!

    I'm afraid this is one of the few areas where women on maternity leave don't get preferential treatment.....
