Refurbished phones?

Hey everyone.

I was wondering if when a phone is refurbished, is it as good as new? Or does it have some "technical" issues and could break at any moment?

I've seen a phone I want and it's about £50 cheaper refurbished, but I don't want to buy it if it'll die on me suddenly or anything.:o

Has anyone here bought anything refurbished? Did you have any problems with it?

Thanks in advance.

I have bought refurbed cameras from Fuji, and TBH they were as good as new. One developed a sensor fault, which was known design problem, repaired free within a few days

A lot of refurbs are really just catalogue returns & such like

I think it would depend where you are buying the refurb from, if from manufacturer / main dealer based in UK then IMO no problem at all

depends where its from.. if its from dodgy dave at the carboot itlee be some scratched crappy piece of crap thats had a broken screen replaced or something.

If from a network or a large reseller like cpw ans suchlike itll just be a hadset thats bee returned under the DSR rules.
    And just chcked and repackaged.

This is the website that the phone is from: http://www.buymobilephones.net/

Not sure if it' a reputable website or not.:o

Basically, I won a phone in a competition but upon using the phone (it was a Nokia E7) realised that it was too "business" like for me and I wasn't that keen on Symbian so I sold it on Ebay and now I'm looking for a replacement phone. I'd really love a Motorola Defy but I want to pay the lowest price possible whilst not being conned, iyswim?

Well they are registered in the UK up in Derby.. But do a search of any sites that may have customer comments before you buy one.

I got my HTC desire refurb on contract from there.
When it arrived it was as good as new, even in an original box.

Some refurb stuff is new and returned as per the distance selling rules but can't be sold as new, it may not have even been out of the polythene protector.

In some ways I quite like refurbed because it has been checked over and tested thoroughly before I get it.

My laptop was refurbished from Argos Ebay shop. When it came, it was as good as new, it still had the protective cover on the screen, it was just the box that was a bit crumpled.
I'd definietly buy from there again and recommend.

I always buy refurbished from Apple - last item got an iphone - was like new, not a single scratch and no issues in the two years I have had it. It was free with a plan. Before that got my son a 2gb ipod a few years ago off Apple site refurbished, he uses it everyday and still does 5 years on :)

It cost me £60 as opposed to £139 - good christmas present! No scratches on it and all boxed neatly, just not in OEM ipod box.
