CRB check for helping out at school

Probably a stupid question i want to help out at my childs school and need a crb check.....i'm worried as many years ago i was made bankrupt and i'd be ashamed if anyone ever found out, so will it show up? being bankrupt doesn't make me a criminal does it?

Bankruptcy is not a criminal offence and does not show up in the CRB check.

One thing that probably doesn't apply to you but should be borne in mind for others, cautions should be disclosed as they do appear on crb checks and for enhanced crb checks there is no such thing as a spent conviction. Likewise foreign convictions will very often show up. If in doubt speak to the person to whom you are applying for the job, because only mentioning things after they appear on the crb looks as if you are trying to hide things.

Bankruptcy prevents you from becoming a school governor, but you should still be able to get your CRB

i believe this applies to undischarged bankrupts only; the OP will have been discharged years ago unless she was really really naughty.

The CRB check is applied for by the organisation that need it, but is sent to you and they don't get a copy. So you can let it go ahead and decide not to show it to them if anything comes up that you don't want them to know, though obviously you'd be unable to help out if that was the case.
Just because it says so in the Mail, doesn't make it true.

I've got ADHD. You can ask me about it but I may not remember to answer...

They do get something as I had one recently, whilst the original came through to me they didnt need to see it as they had been informed of the results themselves.

I'm a welfare assistant at a school, and also a discharged bankrupt, nothing showed on my crb, although I did disclose it on my app form

Yes, me too. I needed one to be a chaperone for my DD's ballet production. I got a copy, so did the ballet school who applied for the check.
