Testing Lightswitches with Multimeter

Ahh, I on the other hand have way too much experience, first wiring regs I did was the 14th back in the '70s.
In those days digital meters didn't exist, multi meters were fragile analogue AVO (Mk 8?) and voltage testers were neon or drummond with a bulb. 35 years later both are still available, maybe it's the rule makers haven't kept up with the technology (or have shares in martindale!)
Ha ha you must remember the old wind up mega (sp) testers that you used to clip on to apprentices' ears.......0 -

It's “megger” and yep, I do remember the wind up variety and think I still have one knocking about somewhere.
I never saw ears being used as a connection point but I did a technician apprenticeship in a relatively civilised place, we used the old “squeeze these so I can check your impedance” method.
The H&S police don’t allow that sort of nonsense with apprentices any more. The country’s going to the dogs I tell you, never did me any harm etc etc etc0
