Complaints? Refused to change private prescription to NHS one

Following from my other thread so I did not get the info mixed up, has anyone who has seen a doctor privately, managed to get a private prescription changed to an NHS one? And if so, how?
My son's paediatrician prescribed him with Ritalin based medication and did not follow it up with the required monitoring, she has just been chucking more and more at him, even upping the dose over the phone. I have requested an appointment numerous time to be told she is 'too busy'.
So now I found a private paediatrician, she does the same job in the next county and is furious and said I should not be paying for her or for the meds but I feel I have no choice now. She has said she will write to my GP and ask him to change the prescription to an NHS one, but he has said a flat no and will not have anything more to do with it. There is no other place I can be referred to on the NHS in this area, it was either pay or have him medicated and unmonitored which I cannot take the risk in doing (my friends son developed a heart problem on this drug and was taken off it).
Anyone got any advice on what I can do now the GP has refused, is there anywhere I can appeal to? I am trying to find out how it all works but there does not seen a huge amount of info out there. Any advice would be great thanks.

Please see my other reply, but also, your GP practice should have their own procedure, which you may have to use first; if so, normally you write to the practice manager.0

Yes, I got a prescription from a private consultant, took it to my GP, he gave me an NHS prescription for the drug and I handed it to the chemist as normal.
The fault seems to lie with your GP, who should not be 'washing his hands' of you at all. Contact the practise manager as suggested.0 -
Thanks for the replies. I was stabbing in the dark and have called the PCT and they are speaking to the practice.
Why does everything have to be such a fight? Maybe it's to find out how strong we are.

Good. -- it certainly is a fight. I do hope you get somewhere, and, quickly!

why don't you change your doctor?
apart from the cost of the private prescriptions.........surely you dont want any member of your family treated by your GP?0 -
It's not really the GP nanny, it is the paediatrician - we do not have any choice over her, it is the only one we can choose from unfortunately.
The GP will not change the private prescription to an NHS one and he told me it was not possible. The PCT told me today that it was!! Will be hearing from her again in the week as she is calling me back after more investigations.
We are in a big practice, we have never even see the one that refused but I guess that is the one my son has been 'allocated'.
However, since my post some things have happened, quite interesting really. Will see where this goes.0
