Ants
                    Hi,
I seem to remember someone on here saying that ants don't kill plants. I have a question regarding this.
Outside my front door, I had two little conifer type things. One of them died and as I was tipping it out onto my compost heap, I noticed that the pot had millions of ants and their eggs. I replaced it with a conifer that was in my back garden that was doing quite well.
After a few months, that died as well and also had millions of ants in the earth. The conifer on the other side of the door was dying but still slightly alive. I discarded that as well and the earth didn't have any ants. I've put ant killer on the ground underneath the pot as I think there must be an ants nest underground there.
Am I doing something wrong or is it the ants nest in the pot that is killing the little tree?
I'm asking because I replaced the two trees with geraniums and I don't want it to be infested with ants again. If the ants are killing my plants then other than ant killer what can I do?

My money would be that a cat is peeing all over it.
Ants can damage / kill small trees however.0 -
            Thanks,
I do have 2 cats but I don't think it is them because the only plants in my garden that have died are the 2 ant infested conifer things and the one semi-dead conifer that didn't have ants. I think that one was a bit sheltered so may not have had enough rain.Ants can damage / kill small trees however.
Is it specifically small trees? So will my geraniums be fine even if their earth and roots gets infested with ants again?0
