New House - now what?
Hi guys,
I've just bought a house, hooray!
However now I have to sort out all the utilities. The current occupiers are with Scottish Power, who I know are pretty pricey, and they are a family with two children, so I assume use a LOT more gas/electricity than me.
I don't know how to sort out the new gas/electricity provider. I've tried going through comparison sites as suggested, but they are all about switching, not brand new customers. All estimated useage seems pretty high, I will be living on my own and I work long hours so I can't see it will be as expensive.
Can anyone recommend what I should do or who I should talk to?
Thank you!!

You are in a deemed tariff with the existing provider (SP) from the day you move in, so you are switching. So you need to register with them first before you can initiate a switch.
Put in your details using the Standard SP tariff as the basis for comparison. But bear in mind that they only look expensive at present as 4 of the big 6 have not increased their prices yet-they very soon will.
If you want to get a decent fixed tariff you 'll need to move quite fast.No free lunch, and no free laptop
