Hi there,
As of today I have Tesco broadband. I'm trying to set up my own password etc, but cannot figure out how to wirelessly access the router. Whenever I try typing dsldevice.lan into the address bar, it prompts me for a username and password. I type in the username & password I use to log in to my online account (eg. username: firstnameelastname password: password) but the login page just appears again. I'm confused and not sure what to do next.
Also, the router I am using is a Thomson TG580

When you find out let me know. I gave up and put my own router in amazingly enough my router is a TG585. Hardly any difference but I now have the power to log in to it.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

from the manual, type 192.168.1.254 into the address bar, then click thomson gateway in the menu down the left side. If your ISP has put a username/password on the router, you need to get it from them, or try the default first (username: admin, password: leave blank)......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple0 -
You have to login to the router's own configuration page first.
To do that, in the address bar of your web browser type in 192.168.1.254. It will then ask you for a username and password. The default for both is blank (just click enter)604!0 -
tox - according to the user manual, default username is admin - just checked it
OP - you really shouldbe accessing the router's interface whilst on ethernet cable rather than wireless, at least initially...........Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

After talking to Tesco, I managed to sort it out.
Username is Administrator password is the wireless key. Have now managed to change everything I wanted to0 -

...and this is the problem when ISPs start messing with the firmware in routers  If they stuck to the manufacturer's defaults, situations like this wouldn't arise - a quick google for the make/model would sort it every time. It's even more frustrating when you go to a client's place and you need to get into the router to start troubleshooting a broadband fault, to find it's been cannibalised by ISP firmware and the client hasn't got a clue of the required user/pword...... sorry, rant over ......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......

Even Tesco Helpline can't access the settings page on my router. Used all the correct codes and wireless key to set up and connect. NO PROBLEM. Now, it just drops the connection at least 3 times a day and needs a pinhole reset to correct each time. Does anybody know the settings if I use a different router on the Tesco Network?0

I'd be interested in the answer to this also. REALLY wish i'd read the reviews before i switched to Tesco broadband, its shocking. I have a wireless printer and have to set it up again everytime i use it as i turn the router off so many times it changes the ip address grrrrr. I get hardly any service in the evenings and what i do get is so slow at times its infuriating.Littlewoods £10 Very BNPL £234.42
