The current extractor i have is useless, when you hold a piece of toilet paper against it the paper hardly gets sucked up,can anyone recommend a decent one to stop the bathroom becoming damp.It is a small room with loo, basin and shower

Open your window after you have just been in the shower. Keep it open for minimum one hour.
As for the extractor. Does it vent directly out the wall or through the ceiling to the loft and out? The main duct may be blocked with all kinds of rubbish. Try changing the main duct.

The above is just an idea of what you can look at.
As for extractor fans - if the toilet is small, a standard fan will work.Motto: 'If you don't ask, you don't get!!'

If extracting through ceiling then look at getting an in line fan with decent extract rates, similar to http://www.sparksdirect.co.uk/airflow-inline-4-fan-with-timer-187m3hr-4-inch-aventa-mixed-flow-extractor-fan-airflow-9041086-p-17639.htmlYou may click thanks if you found my advice useful0

Hi all,
I have a few problems with the extractor fan in my en-suite. installed by eletrician about a year ago. It is connected to switch outside the bathroom and when on, it is extremely loud and worst of all when operating or not the bathroom is always very cold.
I now keep it switched off and use the bathroom window instead to vent out the steam.
Last winter, due to the draft which was making the bathroom un usable even with CH on, i decided to cover it up from the inside - keep it switched off obviously!
The extract fan goes directly thru the wall and i notice the external wall has no cover, unfortunately as it is on the first floor - i dont have a ladder long enough I havnt had a direct look at it from outside.
What do you think I should do??
Thanks in advance!!0 -
Is it through the wall or ceiling ?
Either way you can get a piece of kit to stop draughts called an in line backdraught shutter. You may click thanks if you found my advice useful0 -

Thanks for your response, much appreciated!
The extractor fan is fixed thru the wall.
I will check for the "in line back draught shutter" but can I retrofit this without having to get a new fan?0
