British Gas has announced average electricity price rises of 16%, but many customers will end up paying much more than this for their electricity.

I am on their WebSaver11 tariff, and the British Gas website quotes average increases for this tariff of 19%. However if I check the actual rates for Economy 7 in my area on their website I discover that the increases are:

Tier 1 (first 180 day units) 7%,
Tier 2 (normal day units) 23%,
Night units 27%.

Since most people on Economy 7 will use more night units, the true increase will be much more than the claimed 19%.

However, after noticing some discrepancies on the website, British Gas has admitted to me that the WebSaver 11 tariffs as published are incorrect. They have sent me the correct rates for my area and I am shocked to discover that the increases are even higher:

Tier 1 14%
Tier 2 23%
Night 38%

I now estimate my electricity bill will rise by over 30%, almost double the 16% average increase quoted in the press. British Gas need to come clean about their price rises and publish the correct information on their website.

Please note - I don't know if other tariffs rates on the British Gas website are incorrect.

Iron will Save Gas and Money. Just helping people.

Place a small iron grill or iron stand over the gas stove (flame) and start the fire and place the cooking utensils or frying pan over the iron grill.

The iron grill/stand will become red hot and release heat and the food will be cooked faster. So you will save gas and money.

I have been placing iron grill or iron stand over the gas stove for past 1 month and the food is cooked faster. I think for every 30 minutes the Gas is burned, I save 5 minutes cooking time. After the Gas stove is switched off, the hot iron releases heat for 5 to 10 minutes. One day I forgot to remove 5 Litres of milk from over the hot iron grill after switching off the gas stove and the milk was hot for 4 to 5 hours.

But the iron grill or iron stand which I have, is very thin. So I was thinking what would be the amount of heat released by thick and heavy iron stand placed over the gas stove fire/flame.

The thicker the iron grill the more heat will be released by the red hot iron. I mean small iron grill, enough to cover the flame/fire only. It can be known as "stand". You can remove it anytime you want.

The iron stand becomes red hot when it is placed between the cooking utensils and gas stove. No additional or extra heat required. The iron stand which I have is circular is shape. Also there are iron triangles in between. So there is lots of red hot iron. The circular shaped iron stand captures heat from all the sides. In the absence of this red hot iron, the heat is wasted from all the sides. The more the red hot iron, the more heat will be released and the food will be cooked faster.

Try it. When the food gets cooked faster then post it here so that everybody can read it.

It is important that the Iron Grill becomes red hot because some Iron are made up of "mixed materials" and they do not get red hot easily.

You don't have to wait for the iron stand/grill to heat up. The iron becomes red hot after some 30 seconds. Immediately place the cooking utensils or frying pan over the iron stand after you start the fire.

I think the iron grill or iron stand will cost you £1 or £2 only. So you can try it.
