Shill bidding is a crime isnt it?

Cant you find something you want to buy, bid on it,. then if you get outbid by what you suspect strongly from the evidence is a shill bidder, contact the police with your evidence?

I expect they would politley tell you to go away and that it is a civil matter! It might be a crime but I doubt very much they would look into it with the lack of resources they already have.

There are plenty of experiences of people being scammed for hundreds of pounds and despite it clearly being fraud, when reporting it to the police are told to deal with it as a civil matter.
