Selling "at best" prices

they were never at 265.
The bid and offer price can include orders on the book never processed I think. So its possible for very extreme prices to occur and not be real exactly and market players will delibrately try and confuse sometimes0 -

Sure, even now there will be some orders at 265 no doubt, however it would be extremely unlikely that the OP would have seen that price. Unless the OP saw the 265 price on the Monday last week and then tried to sell Friday and expected the price to stay the same? ^^
Rather than us trying to assume what has happened, it perhaps would be best for the OP to return to the thread to clarify any points that are not clear?0 -

Judging by your other posts it is my carefully considered opinion that... you are raving bonkers.
well he or she has seemingly nothing of value to contribute apart from trying to get a reaction or attention by mentioning "dildoes" (sic) and is a borderline illiterate to boot.

I can confirm that this was my mistake with the broker.
I was unaware of the market being closed, and because setting up a sell with HSBC is the best free way to see the real-time price, I saw '265p at best' and went straight in for the sell without hesitation. It's became clear now that this is the best price that HSBC would offer for when the markets opened again on Monday.
No problem with HSBCs systems just got full of excitement and sold without giving time for my brain to ask itself questions.0 -
Its very easy to make a mistake unfortunately. Barc actually went down further today so selling was best anyway (for now)extremely unlikely that the OP would have seen that price. Unless the OP
I see extreme prices often. Often a chart shows twice the real price (for 10 seconds, cue giant spike), it should be corrected but isnt always. iii was quoting shares in sterling when it was the unconverted dollar price, making it appear 1.6x its true worth.
Every market does this, I hear tesco makes pricing errors but is nice enough to usually reimburse in favour of the customer. obviously shares they wont do this, it is 'at your own risk' situation0 -

.
No it's not.
The price offered when the markets opened would be whatever the market price was at that time.0 -

I still dont know what happened - was there a mistake or wasnt there?
An 'at best' order will sell your shares at the best available price as soon as possible (as others have said). In your case this was as quickly as possible on monday morning at the best price available.
Im still intrigued though where and in what context 265p was mentioned?0 -
Probably due to closing auction.0
