I have just entered the iPod world this christmas and I have a question. Can you use someone elses iTunes and transfer songs onto your iPod. I tried this today and it said I had to sync with the new version of iTunes wich would mean deleting everything from the iPod and syncing with the new iTunes directory.
I hope that made sense. I Am a little useless with these sorts of things.
Does anyone know if it is possible to transfer files from someone elses iTunes on to your iPod?
Any help would be appreciated

You can use multiple ipods on one PC using itunes. We have four ipod owners in the family and two of us use one pc running itunes to update our ipods.
First i created a single music directors on our home network. That means we all save our downloads/ripped cd's to a single shared drive. Itunes allows you to "point it" at the shared directory. That way we are all looking at single music directory.
My wife and I use the same pc to update our ipods using itunes. If you hook up the "main" users ipod to the pc, and wait for itunes to recognise the device. Then go into edit/preferences and under the ipod tab you should find a checkbox to update the ipod manually. This will sop itunes trying to sync with the ipod.
You can now create playlists for each user and either drag them into the ipod in itunes or set each ipod to syn with specific playlists - you do this under the ipop tab.

Thanks for that but i am trying to update one ipod from several PC's but this doesn't appear to be possible.
Everytime I try it says i have to delete the content and sync to that specfic iTunes. It says an iPod can only be synced with one Itunes. This issue I have is that I want to use a nuber of PCs to update my Ipod

Try using a program called media monkey - its free and much better in my opinion for transferring music to your ipod - I carry it around as a file on my ipod and install it on friends pc's if I want to l "borrow" their music. If at first you don't succeed - destroy all evidence that you tried.0
