Am after some meal ideas.
I need to lose weight, but can only have a small amount of fibre a day. So that's limited fruit and veg.
I'm not a big eater, but tend to snack. I've been eating rice cakes for breakfast as there is not much out there with low fibre but need ideas for other meals.
Of course it also needs to be OS.
I followed WW points system a couple of years ago and did well until it got to the point I needed to be eating much more fruit and veg to be within points and I ended up so ill I was housebound. So I went back to my old ways and now I'm heavier than when I started.
WW have changed their systems and I can't afford the meetings for the info (and unlike the old you can't google the formula!).

I'm going to be harsh. Get to your GP and ask for referral to a dietitian because it appears, from the brief search I've carried out, that low fibre diets are prescribed, rather than a matter of personal choice. You need to see an expert on the subject.‘Keep your eye on the donut and not on the hole.’ David Lynch.

Thanks for your reply. I'm under a Dr at the hospital already so have already been advised to have a low fibre diet. Just out of ideas!0

I have been doing a fairly low fibre diet for the last few weeks
Breakfast is porridge or bacon and egg with rye bread
Lunches salads, ham, chicken, tuna, slamon, prawns, eggs with added seeds for extra protein
Dinner Meat or fish, with veg and sweet potato or brown rice or wholewheat pasta - you need less than the white one as more filling
Snacks have been almonds, walnuts, ham, piece of cheese on rice cakes or ryvita
Hope this helps - I have lost 7 lbs in 6 weeks0 -
Spend a bit of time making a list of everything that is low fibre - search it out. Start off with just anything that is low fibre and then make 4 separate lists - breakfast, lunch, dinner, snacks.
Start to calculate the fibre in everything you eat (you'll only need to do this for a week) and you can see if you're under or over the limit you're allowed. Soon enough you'll establish that if you have x in the morning, y at lunch then you can have more fibre at dinner.
If you're struggling and putting weight on try speaking to the Doctor asking if he can recommend a dietician who will have some good ideas for you - it's not right that your "healthy" diet is unhealthy in making you put on weight.

Thanks for the ideas. I will start on tha list.
Gilly...wholewheat and brown foods are very high in fibre so I don't go near them!0 -
I too have to watch how much fibre I eat and so base a lot of my meals on protein. This can be sardines or pilchards in tomatoe sauce or a couple of boiled eggs for breakfast, chicken with cherry tomatoes and a bit of past with pesto for lunch and then liver and onions with mashed pots, carrots and peas for tea.
I see a dietician regulary who checks what I am having over a longer period and I am also on multi vitamins and minerals, calcium tablets and ferrous fumarate tablets with regular blood tests. Do ask to see a dietician though as has been mentioned as it is hard to keep healthy when not following a standard diet. The best bargains are priceless!!!!!!!!!! :T :T :T0 -
Thanks Rebob. I did think they would refer me to a dietician anyway but guess not.:p0

I know it's controversial but the Atkins diet is low in fiber. In fact I used to get a bit "blocked up" when I first started the diet but have now learned how to get enough fiber on it. I do the Rose Elliot low carb vegetarian diet but for meat eaters it's easier. The only problem I've found is that it costs more than say Slimming World as carbs tend to be cheaper than protein and fat. But it's amazing how quickly the weight slides off.0

Will look into it. Thanks.0
