Thanks for all the sausage casserole ideas, I will definately try some out. It also got me thinking about the sausages that I buy and all the rubbish and floor scrapings that go into them!!! I'm now on the hunt for a mincer!!

I usually cook my sausage casserole on the hob. I like to brown the sausage anyway which I do in the saucepan, and as it doesnt take that long to cook it just seems easier to me. It also doesnt need thickening on the hob, make sure you add plenty of worcestershire sauce to taste :)

Nice to see my good old sausage casserole recipe still doing the rounds! We haven't had it for ages & I've got some sausages in the freezer.......
However it would involve going to the supermarket for apples (my veg shop is shut til Friday) & some milk to make the yorkies & I was determined not to have to go this week.........

I do not know where else to post this but believe its worth doing to save money being wasted on school meals.
You are aware Channel 4 with Jamie Oliver and Nora are doing programmes on school meals with the aim of forcing a national change for the better.

No doubt you also recognise that what children eat effects their behaviour. It is ridiculous to allow our children to be fed price inflated rubbish.

    Was experimenting tonight!

I sprayed a baking tray with sunflower oil in a spray bottle. Washed some potatoes and sliced them into chips. I put them on the tray and sprayed them with oil too. I baked them at 200°C for 30 minutes, and my two didn't comment on them, and thought they were normal chips :D
Lower in fat and much cheaper than frozen chips.
Here I go again on my own....

Becles - do you put your own oil into a spray bottle? I've bought the ready made ones before, to use when camping, but don't like them. Also have lots of nasties in them. I've a full bottle minus 2 sprays of the buttery one in my cupboard - absolutely yuk - waiting until I find someone who likes it!

My Mam bought a ready made one and said it wasn't nice, so I bought a mini plant spray and put ordinary sunflower oil in it.

Thanks Becles :T this is one of those 'why didn't I think of that' ideas.
