    You know,

I'm pretty sure all they mean is an internal credit check - i.e. ensure your account behaviour score meets the level required for a M/C debit.

This would be in line with all the other banks; i.e. HSBC sent me a non CGC VISA debit when I opened the account last year but I popped into branch and the chap just checked that my A/C behaviour score was above a given amount and then ordered the CGC card for me.

Same went for Natwest years ago when they upgaded my Solo to Service card Switch / Maestro back along...

Sounds to me as if the bank's employee didn't understand the difference between internal and external credit checking. Bless :o

Very possibly... I have checked my Experian report online (I believe YB use it mainly for credit searches) and after a week there has been no search by the bank.
    Sorted out my finances...

update on this: I received a form at the weekend to sign and return to the bank - the bottom of the form was already complete (below) even before I signed it they had checked my signature?

I have checked experian online and no further check has been made on my file.

From the office only part on the form it looks like the new card has been approved so I will update if it ever arrives!

So, after almost four weeks my new card arrived. No sign of a full credit check though, so clearly only an internal one.
