Feeding fussy cats - Raw this time

Thought I'd give this a try as not getting anywhere quickly with trying to get them to eat more wet and less dry.

So, a pick pack of chicken wings was bought yesterday - however, neither has touched it.:(

I tried taking off the skin, then cutting little bits of chicken off the bone but no joy.

I didn't give in (despite much yeowling) and give them their usual wet instead and tried again this morning but still no joy.

Any other ideas?

(Otherwise it looks like I'll be cooking chicken wings for the dog tomorrow):(

How 2 cats can be so fussy and stubborn about what they eat is beyond me! (little monkeys;)) - dogs are soooo much easier, mine eats anything!

My Daisy's the same!! Wont eat anything raw & reserves the right to go off her favorite food as she sees fit..Although,as I've just found out,she does like the filling in the Fray Bentos Steak n Kidney pie...cuz I caught her on the kitchen counter with her head in the tin!!

Just a side note, I wouldn't cook the chicken wings for the dog unless you plan to take the bones out of them. You shouldn't give cooked chicken bones to any animal as they can splinter, just give them raw?
Sorry if i'm telling you stuff you already know and all IMHO of course

    :rotfl: Little monkeys.

Your dog can safely eat raw chicken wings as it will clean their teeth just the same as the cats, or you can joint the wings, freeze them on a baking sheet and try again an other time. :D Not all cats take to raw right away, some like it at room or mouse temperature, some need you to play with the food (IIRC someone on MSE pulled it around on a piece of string!), some you need to mix a tiny bit of one food with the other, a little more every few days.

Sorry, never thought to say - they will be picked once cooked (lovely job)! I often do chicken pieces for him (can get big frozen packs quite cheap) and the legs/1/4 pieces are OK to pick but the wings are a nightmare & take ages!:(

Thanks for the links - got me thinking now. I may just freeze them (individually) and keep trying every so often. I've now taken the wee tub with the bits out of the fridge to warm up and will have another bash at bed time.

    Ohhhhh little monkey!:D

I'm hoping I may win with Mia as she eats most "human" food (and will pinch off my plate given 1/2 a chance), Archie, I'm not so sure about as he's very fussy (as a "mouser" you'd think he'd jump at it).

Honestly, if I spent 1/2 as long trying to work out what I'm going to eat as I do on these 2, I'd starve most of the time!:D

Do they appreciate it ........ :wall:

  • Finally managed to persuade my wee girl to try a bit of chicken ...:D

However, had to pick it up between my fingers  and play a bit of "catch me if you can, I'm a fly" " but got there eventually.

Managed to get her to eat 3 bits so some progress!

Will keep at it (no joy with the boy yet - lots of yeowling and interest but nose turning up when it's actually in front of him).

These posts have made me smile and I can empathise and relate to everything written!

I often have those moments 'is it me?' or 'what's wrong with my cats?'

But I now realise it's not me and there's nothing wrong with my cats, they're just being cats and I'm their human slave specifically chosen for being so obedient in doing their bidding.

Good luck and keep at it RFTA!

Lulu eats hand-fed oat grass whilst purring, but the small leftover pieces used to 'garnish' her cat food have been eaten around. :rotfl:
