Groundwork/footings cost

Could someone please advise me ROUGHLY what a builder is likely to charge for the following, as we are working out a budget:

All groundwork & footings completed
Move 1 drain
Build up to Damp CP
Size 3m x 5m
Midlands area

Just a rough price please would be really appreciated. Thanks

You are wasting your time as any estimates will be totally meaningless. Even a rough estimate wont have any relevance to your planned budget

Moving a drain can take one day or a few days and involve a few fittings or a van load

Ground type, foundation depth (and size) foundation specification, access etc can bump up any cost significantly

And if you are thinking about using different contractors for just this part of the build, then you will pay a premium for this one contractor

You really need to get people around, let them see the site, give them a proper specification, and get a quote from them based on this

from those dimensions, Im assuming its for a conservatory. Depending on what your soil is like (if its clay you will have to go deeper) most conservatory footings are 450 wide and 600 deep. If this is done with a mini digger, its a days work + digger hire and skip hire (an 8 yard should do) approx cost would be 350-600 depending on labour costs. Concrete infill t0 two course below damp would be approx 350 + labour if you are having 3.5m3 of readymix. It will take 2 people with barrows about half an hour. Then you have the cost of two course to dpc, this would be about 200 quid in materials + labour for half a day. These prices assume you are getting labour in. Of moving a manhole is usually between 200 - 500 depending on depths, distances etc. For a company to do this whole job, it would be around 2200-2800. hope this helps.

    10k .
As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters.

Thanks so much, I really appreciate the breakdown of costs & understand it's not going to be an exact figure- just wanted an idea.

It's for a single storey extension btw so would that make any difference to the cost of this? Not clay soil.

Do you have any rough labour costs too? Thanks

if its a single story extension, the building officer will have to inspect the footings and determine the correct depth for the ground conditions. These sizes may still be ok, but he may specify to go deeper and to 600mm wide. Labour nowadays for something basic like groundworks can be 120 for main labourer and 60 for lad per day. Obviously if you are going to contract a company to do the job it will be more as they will do the organising have to build in for uncertainties. Still expect to pay around 3k for this based on the fact it is for an extension rather than conservatory. Will be less if you organise and contract labour on day rate.

Cheers..You were bang on with the price, been getting quotes today and all around £3k-£3.5k price :-)

Do you have any idea (again roughly) what we should expect for a standard tiled pitched roof - cost of materials & labour? Again 3mx5m with 2 or 3 Velux windows.

    Thanks

depending on what tiles you choose, I would be looking to bring it in under 2k including rainwater goods. you would have to add on the price of veluxes depending on size to this price, but it would include the labour and the rest of the materials.
