Grrrr

Got DVD recorder for Xmas - am chuffed to bits. Yanked out TV, choked for about 40 minutes on the dust that flew out from behind it. Then nearly got strangled by the thousands of wires behind there. Managed to unwrangle the old DVD player out and put the new one in. Now, where are the instructions for connecting it up - surely I can set this up....

Here we go - plug this in here, that in there, la la la - WHAT A NIGHTMARE

I now have it all set up but have lost video player somewhere along the line. Never again - am now looking for boyfriend who is computer techie wizard and also tv, sky and dvd recorder expert with a degree in scart leads! :rotfl:

Never again!

My hubby is mechnically minded, and brilliant at housework, but if it involves wires, setting up, recording video, pc, etc., its me. But then again I prefer that to housework/tidying any day!:j

Are you still stuck? Or have you sorted it now?

This forum should help you "find" your video player: http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=19 I've seen quite a few queries on there about different set up combinations.

Have to agree it's a nightmare, I had to get my little brother in to sort all my AV kit out on Saturday, I replaced one box with another with a bigger HD and had plugged the arial into the wrong input and couldn't pick up freeview on it, I was ready for throwing the whole thing through the window... LOL.

Anyway if you want to borrow my brother (only joking)...on the plus side he has got the surround sound working on both the tv and the DVD recorder without having to change any plugs. Good luck.

Haven't sorted it out yet - just the mere thought of hauling the TV out and looking at it all again breaks me out in a cold sweat!

Am definitely going to try again tonight.....

Twinny when you do get it sorted (or someone sorts it for you) I strongly suggest that you put a sticker on the end of the lead/wire and the same sticker where it plugs into.
I use the stickers that used to come with VCR tapes and put the No 1 on the lead and the other No 1 on the socket...and so on.
It's a lot better than a good memory.

Im just not in the mood for getting behind that tv again - I just cant face it. So I have decided that Im not that bothered about copying videos to dvds (even though thats what I wanted it for!)

So I managed to copy a film that I saved on my sky+ box onto a disc :T hurrah for me! Then I thought I'd try to edit it so I could get rid of the adverts. BIG MISTAKE. The instructions might as well be written in chinese. I always felt scornful of those people (normally my parents) who couldn't work videos or stereos etc but now its happened to me too. Instructions that were once perfectly clear have now jumbled themselves up. Its actually happened - Im too old to understand instruction manuals. I wish I could hire a person to just SHOW me what to do.

Am switching stupid DVD recorder off now (oh its a panasonic ez25 if that means anything to anyone!) going to make a cup of tea and sulk in a corner.:o :o

I know how you feel, I actually work for a consumer electronics company and I had absolutely no idea how to sort it out. It makes it worse when the tv is in a dark corner and you can't see what you are trying to do, the cables are too short to get any movement LOL.

I jokingly said to a colleague that we should set up an installation service, how do people manage when they buy on line?

I think thats a good idea - I would willingly pay a trustworthy person to come in and set it all up for me and show me how to use the dam thing

I wouldn't mind but I'm (believe it or not!!) not thick!!
