Problem Windows XP Update

After most recent auto update to windows XP mid last month. At boot up my Wireless Internet Connection Icon has started reporting limited or no internet connection. This lasts about 15 minutes when I can't use the Internet, then it all goes back to normal. I would rather not have this delay. Before I spend ages trying to analyse the situation and re-installing stuff. Any Ideas?
Its an old desktop so I have a external wireless card (USB) from Zoom.
and TalkTalk security installed.
The only processes I can detect using the CPU and I/O reads during this wait seem to be Isass and csrss

Thanks

this does happen with updates sometimes. u could choose to remove said updates via control panel or - try using system restore to roll back to a previous date (before install of said updates ) .

This could be caused by your IP address lease. Not sure what the update has done but it might be worth doing an IPCONFIG /release from the command line and then an IPCONFIG /renew to obtain a new IP address as soon as you have booted up. If this fixes the problem, you might want to consider fixing your IP address as a work around.

It might also be worth recreating the wireless profile for the connection, this may be in windows or any software from the card provider. (Netgear and Dell like to use their own software)

Don't want to stop the automatic updates' so if I remove the update it will re-install as soon as windows update notices it is missing. However the next time it may be OK. so I might remove it then let windows reinstate it. I don't want to roll back because I have other stuff I don't want to install again. How do I find and remove an update from the control panel?
    Thanks.

This is a bit advanced for me (no its a lot advanced for me). However I tried the first bit.
After IPCONFIG/release it waited for about 2 minutes then came back with
    Connection-Specific DNS Suffix =
    IP Address ..........................= 0.0.0.0
    Subnet Mask .......................= 0.0.0.0
    Default Gateway...................=

After IPCONFIG/renew it waited for about 3 minutes more then came back with the Connection-Specific DNS Suffix = (still blank) and the other 3 items filled in and at exactly the same time my connection was restored. Not sure if the renew caused the connection to be restored or if the restoration allowed the renew to report back. So if its not too complicated or scary are you able to tell me how to fix my IP address. I'm not even sure if you are using the word fix as in repair or as in fix it so it can't change? Whatever I do I don't want to plough on in blissful ignorance and lose my internet altogether.

    Thanks

/release effectively wipes the current IP address from your pc, and /renew tells it to go get another one from your router, so the /renew will report the new IP addy that the router has given the pc when it requested it :) simples, ain't it ?? ;)

sometimes these things just happen for no apparent reason, just learn how to fix them (which, in this case, you have :j )
