adsense, commision junction, clickback?!?

Options
So I have been reading about these monetizing ways for you blog, but found a lot of the threads are quite old and commission rates change quickly. Especially from what I have read about Adsense. Just wondering what you guys think are the best ad serving application's?

Clickbank seems to be the best, from what I have read, but I would like some up to date opinions. And one more thing; can you use several ad serving application's on the same page? and as many adverts as you want? dont worry I'm not going to spam, just wondering.

Thank you:beer:

I have used AdSense, Commission Junction, and Clickbank in the past and the only one I made money on (and still do) is Google AdSense.

When you have your website you can display adverts on it and try and try and make money from these.

Commision junction and Clickbank are affiliate services so someone will have to click on a link from your site and then purchase something of which you will get a percentage. So people may be clicking on your links but if they don't buy anything from the following website then you will get nothing. In my opinion this is a big waste of time unless you make a website that focuses soley on one thing and you are confident people will buy items on your recommendation. This is good for review websites and I have found that Amazon Affiliates is also a good service to use.

AdSense is based on Pay-Per-Click so you will get money from people clicking on adverts without them having to sign-up or buy anything. Once they click on an advert you will get some money and not have to worry about anything else. Google uses contextual placing of adverts so they are relevant to the reader and also the content of your website. If you pick a good subject or niche then you can earn quite well. If you have a poor website then you may only earn pennies per click. The rates are decided by the advertisers and things like insurance and credit earn quite well but are very competitive.

I run a niche website featuring AdSense and currently get an average of 50p per click and it earns me over £200 a month. I have put a lot of hard work into it but is shows that AdSense has worked for me. I do sometimes use Amazon Affiliates though if I want to link direct to items I may advertise.

On your website you can have a mixture of any advertisers but some will limit how many adverts you can have provided by them (e.g. you can onlu have 3 AdSense adverts on a page).

I hope this helps and gets you earning some extra money.

Commission Junction have a time limit for you to sell one of their product. I have used it before but couldn't get a sale for 6 months so I couldn't use any of their services.
Now I use Clickbank and Adsense. Its a bit slow but there are some money coming in. Don't believe those websites that promise that you can make 500 a day. I feel that's really inpossible. Anyone out there that has made that much a day can just highlight here.

    Thanks

Arrgg I put clickbank on my website and immediately hated it! I thought you could sell more than ebooks and those ebook sites plugging their books just seems tacky. Thank you for your replies guys! I didn't realize you could earn so much from one click with adsense, considering the niche. I will look further into that.
At the moment I don't have many visitors (new blog) so no chance in making much from adsense but I would recommend komoona.com for anyone with a low amount of visitors. Just search komoona in plugins.

Clickbank and CJ aren't really big money makers in my opinion.

Google have got really silly about what sites they will and wont accept. They emailed me a while ago and said that my site was not suitable. Nothing wrong with the site itself, they just said catagory-wise they didnt want to advertise on that particular site.

I use Clicksor, dont ever have an issue with them. https://www.clicksor.com

I don't even bother with Google adsense for any of my websites and the returns are really poor in my opinion. I use Clickbank and Paydotcom for my sports and betting sites which give me a steady amount of sales both as a vendor and an affiliate. I also use Commission Junction, Tradedoubler and Affiliate Window which give me a few affiliate sales of physical product links but nothing to write home about. The one that has made a difference for me due to my new selection filters is Amazon. I only ever pick products between £100 - £300 with good recent feedback and use the free Google keyword tool for keyword checks and any opportunities. This has made a difference and now enjoy a steady amount of sales and a healthy conversion rate.

Adsense is so full of win, nothing touches it. Make sure you read the rules 100x over and fully, fully understand them - there are no second chances (for life).... it really IS the goose that lays the golden egg.

CJ - I use them, making a few quid here and there, but it can be a pain as quite a few products will suddenly disappear if the bill's not been paid, then you have to remove the links (which takes time).

Clickbank - people are a lot smarter these days and unless you're going to specialise in promoting CB products and really learn all the tips/tricks and have a neat niche and a good converting product, you can waste heaps of time with these. A lot of the products are pants.

You really have to find your own way, see what works for you. One thing will work for somebody, but not for somebody else. I've got sites that do well with Adsense, others that just make £1/day and some that never get a click.

Just join stuff and see what happens. Join, pick something, try it out, check the stats, bin the duds.

I think you should try each one, personally adsense is the easiet to get going as all it requires is a click versus affiliates which requires a lot of work to get right.

I use AdSense and it's a good little earner. You need to keep updating your site for it to be successful. I have used Commission Junction but this was for affiliate marketing. I use the UK based Webgains for affiliate marketing now and they are brilliant. I'm also signed up to the ebay partner network and earn regular amounts through other people's auctions.

They all bring in the money providing you keep adding fresh content. With AdSense you need to get the account up to £60 before they pay out and in my case this can take a couple of months. My expected pay out next month will be about £80 for AdSense alone.

  • Hey,

I would use Affiliate Window rather then CJ.

Which one is best our of adsense, Affiliate Window and Clickbank?

It all depends on what type of site you have got, if you have an information site its best to use adsense with a clickbank product in the sidebar.

Or you could make a proper affiliate site and constantly plug a product from clickbank or affiliate window.

If done properly you can earn much more from Affiliate window and Clickbank then Adsense.

    I am speaking from experience.

I would say if you want to make real money from adsense you need more then one site, a lot of people have quite a few micro sites which earn say £5 per day each so if you make 100 of these sites you get £5 x 100 per day.

This is how a lot of people can make £500 per day.

But if you just want to manage one site then you can make just as much from a single affiliate websites if it ranks well in Google.

    Hope this helps
