So even when its died? I could leave it a month but then surely I would have dead plants everywhere.....
It'll turn into dried up little things in a week... crumble to nothing in a further week. But, pull (pull being better than dig at this stage) any dead bits you like up... by the stage they are deader than a dead thing, they'll not pass any more poison on anyway.
It's just better not to dig too early... you'll separate roots under the soil, poison won't reach them, and they'll sprout individually.
Just go for it. So long as your boyfriend doesn't actually drink the stuff, you can do little wrong... Unless the style police see his gloves! :rotfl:0 -

The style police wouldn't be able to see over my fence so we are ok
WELL, I am going back to Leeds for a few days after the baby is born in mid august so I could get it done then, then I am back to my parents for a few more weeks so by the time I am back full time they will be dead! Which is good as if I have to wait weeks whilst I am there, It will be like watching paint dry...obviously if I get back and the infestation is worse I will be horrified
Its a nice yard and the decking is nice its just the bindweed is awful. So I plan to get rid of the bindweed, and all the other weeds replace the rotary line, although I wondered if my landlord will do that and then repaint/protect the decking (landlord should but if she doesn't sort it I can't be bothered to ask) and then I can grow something in a pot on the decking. It will be my first attempt at growing something.....but I won't do ANY of that till the blasted bindweed has gone..
Oooh actually, you know when you have gate latches, mines bent so the gate doesn't shut or it slams shut at the latch gets wedged, can you buy new ones?Money money money.

Right, I am back to Leeds tomorrow. I went back last week for a night and found the bindweed had spread across the path to the door. I'm back for a week so have time to attack this and then maybe when I move back permanently in a month it will be gone maybe?
So....can someone tell me where to go to buy this weedkiller, I'll go to Wilkinsons if thats where is best
And mum says I can spray it on the leaves but the general consensus here is to mix it in pots and put the leaves in? how many pots!! the patch is about 2 metres by 3 metres. its gone through the decking too.
and I will wear gloves obviously but I am terrified of getting the chemicals on my 3 week old baby so any other protective measures to take?Money money money.

My Granddad used to do it the "old skool" way by spending time digging deep down around the problem area, overturning the soil and manually removing any small evidence of bindweed. This is definitely not the answer of getting rid of it for you as people have said above, it's not in your garden.
Hope it's of some help..0
