Help please, need new car radiator!

Happy Xmas to you all. Mine was going great until first my heating broke down (which is gonna cost £300 to fix) and now the RAC have told me I need a new radiator on my Citroen Xsara Picasso!!

AAAARGH. I'm *(#!!>< livid. God knows how I can afford that!

Anyway, is there any kind and wise person out there who could guesstimate a rough cost on how much a new rad could be? (It's a diesel if that helps)
I'll have to take it down a local garage tomorrow, but it would be useful to know a ball-park figure...! (not that I want to know really...!)

Any thoughts gladly welcomed. (Just don't scare me...)
Thanks.

According to this report, they cost £150 although I would have thought a lot less - try here.

  • try your local scrap yard as well, with any luck there'll be a Xsara that's been *rse-ended with a perfectly good radiatior.

Gloucester Radiators sold me one for an Astra/Cavalier for £25.

Or if you can remove the radiator yourself, and have another mode of transport for a day or two, then a local radiator repair specialist, (Check Yellow Pages.) will repair and test it for you,and it will almost be a fraction of the cost of a new one.

Upon replacing in the car, don't forget your anti-freeze.

Or use bodge juice (radweld) for a short term fix.
Personally I'd just fit a new one as long as it was below £30 new.
