Bought a new XBox game and there's no game in the box!

I bought my son a XBox game for Christmas, brand new and sealed, and when I opened it there was nothing in the box.
Can't seem to find the companies address, can someone find it for me so I can complain? The game is called Deus Ex 2: Invisible War, and it's made by Eidos I think.
The game manufacturer's address that is, not the shop I bought it from (obviously not their fault).

You may get a response from the manufacturer if you can trace them, but legally the onus is on the retailer. You bought it from them, your contract is with them.Good luck.0

Take it back to where you bought it from. Be prepared to not be believed at first cause they might think "oh yeah, no game in a sealed box" but I've heard of it with DVDs a few times so you should just get a swap.0

i'd just take it back to where you got it, so they can replace it and deal with it themselves.
Incidently this has been a big problem in America with all systems, most people are opening them in store now in front of the clerk to prove they are not lying.
Here is the helpline number for Eidos 0870 9000 222Sometimes i surprise myself by being right.0 -
I had this happened a couple of years ago when I got my ds a game from Woolworths, I took it back to them and told them it was a birthday present for my son and he was very disappointed, they apologied and also gave my £5for having to come back which I thought was very good of them.0

OP
It may not ne the shops fault but it is equally their problem, they have to give you a replacement then they will reclaim one game from their suppliers.
Your first port of call should be the shop
but if you want to spend 10p a minute phoning Eidos that's your perogative, just don't be surprised when they refer you back to the shop.0 -
My wife used to work for WH Smiths.
All stock of this type was shelved without the cds dvds etc in the box to reduce losses. It seems that the store may have simply forgot to swap a display case for the proper case.
Complaints of this nature did happen from time to time. It was usually a new member of staff that made the innocent mistake and all complaints of this nature were seen as genuine. After all, if you want to get a free game, the chances are that you'd want a different game - not the same one as you had previously bought.Behind every great man is a good womanBeside this ordinary man is a great woman£2 savings jar - now at £3.42:rotfl:0 -
Hi,
Actually, I've already contacted the retailer and they're happy to send me a replacement, in fact they said they'd be sending it out today.
I want to complain to the manufacturer too though, it's clearly their mistake and I want them to address it!0 -
Then I suggest you write them a letter, it will be cheaper and more effective than phoning. But they will be well aware of the problem already or will just blame a third party in the distribution chain.

Hi,
I'm actually the retailer (well sort of, I run https://www.dvdextras.co.uk so it's just something on the side on eBay) - didn't think I'd get as many replies if I said that in the first place though (I'd probably have got people saying "oh they're just saying that" instead :P.
The rest of the stock is fine by the way - started off with about 25 copies of this game (which I did admittedly buy from another amateur seller, but the boxes are cellaphane and holographically sealed so I doubt anyone along the supply chain has tampered with it).
Thanks for the information, I've sent the buyer this email today:
Hi,
I dispatched another copy of Deus Ex 2 today, it weighs the same as all my other XBox games to the gram so there's deffinetely a disc in this one!
Here's the address to complain to the manufacturer's at, you'll likely get some compensation out of it, probably in the form of a free game/gift voucher (I'm just assuming this though).

Alternatively you could give them a call, but it's 10p a minute and I'm not sure they'd have anyone there who could deal with it (it's probably just a callcenter): 0870 9000 222
Hope that helps

I would have opened the wrapping to make sure. I have seen retailers saying in T&C "all sealed items will be opened and checked before posting (and re-sealed if necessary/possible". I think this is a good way to stop this possible scam.
Ho Hum, at least you came clean with us.0
