LCD Monitor, which one?

Ive been looking for a while now and have found a few good as new ones being sold by other people.

Here they are inc price:

Hanns G 19" Widescreen one for £110ish

The ViewSonic VA1912w 19" LCD for £100

or

The Hanns G 19" HU196D @ Amazon for £114

What do you reckon? Dont want to go over £120 mark.

  • in my opinion all of those monitors will have similar image quality for the price,

the most important thing (which i regretted not considering enough) is what you want to use it for...

If you want to watch movies on it get a widescreen model

If you have an xbox 360 aswell as a pc get the widescreen model

If you only search the web and word process get the square model

I went for a square 19" then regretted it when i started watching movies on my pc and wishhhh i'd went for the widescreen

I use the PC for mostly internet use and doing work on Powerpoint, Word and Publisher, I do watch films though butonly at holidays when friends and family come round. So, only about 10 movies a year!

Dont play games, I know I wont as I got Uni next year! I like the widescreen, especially as its worth £150 and im gettin git for £110.
  • widescreen sort of cuts down on the amount of "website" you can see at any one time

1024 pixels in height for a square and 768 pixels in height for a widescreen

because most websites are the same-ish width height is more important than width

you can pick up a widescreen 19" new with warranty for about £130 and always use quidco

Buying second hand should be fine aslong as its still in warranty and you get all the papers

Monitors like TV screens are measured diagonally, so a widescreen version ( 16 x 9 picture ratio ) of a size cannot be as tall as a standard shaped ( 4 x 3 ) one.
It is an historical measurement, deliberately set by manufacturers to make you think you were getting a larger picture for your money.
In fact with old glass c.r.t. tubes the measurement includes the glass edges, so their picture size is even smaller.

    E.G.

A 17" crt monitor has a picture height of only 9 and a quarter inches, whereas a 17" lcd has a piccy 10.5 inches high.!!

A 19" lcd (4x3) has a pic 11.75" high whearas the widescreen version is only 10" high, but is 16" wide, ie not as high as a standard 17" lcd, yet is as wide as a 21" 4x3 monitor.

I still fancy a 21" widescreen, but these are expensive, cheapest??? is the Gateway for £299 in Staples.

And as Liam says you need to take note of the pixels too.

Nice one! That cleared a lot up.

Not spending more than £120....I've been offered the Hanns G widescreen one for £110 but may get it for £100 or I can get the one from Amazon, the Hanns G HU196D for £109 inc delivery.

Which one out of these two?

Here's the link so you can see:

    The Hanns G HU196D for £109

    OR

    The Hanns G HW191D for £100
