who would buy a car in this country inspected by their dad who usually turn out to be a chippy when they come to see me?
then drive all the way down france without so much as a basic service and safety check by someone competent?
good job a wheel didnt come off or it would have been a long term in a very nice french penal place with no remand
the crassness of people on here never ceases to amaze me
can i have my money back? perhaps if poster scweams and scweams she might get an iced lolly?
But if it was bought in marks and spencer all she'd need was a receipt:p0 -

I must have read the thread wrong, I didn't realise she bought the car in Calais
ML.He who has four and spends five, needs neither purse nor pocket0 -
Any sensible person would have taken steps to minimise such risks. Your friend didn't take ANY such steps. Your friend deserves all she gets for being so stupid.
The sad thing is, I suspect this type of thing will happen again and again because nothing is your friends fault is it? Cocooned in the blame culture, your friend will continue to try and fleece honest, well intentioned people with cries of 'foul play'.
Next time (and I'm sure there will be a next time) get and adult to help you.
Sorry but this has got to be another wind up.You have been reading.....another magnificent post by garethgas :beer:0 -
That's a heck of a long drive for any car let alone a car she new very little about.
I think it is unfair for her to blame her Dad.
ML.
A long drive for any car?
Cars are designed to do 100000 plus
Crazy to buy one without a warranty though
without a warranty = no comeback unless obviously not as described0 -
We've no idea whether this car is a £10,000 nearly new, or a £200 wreck.
I understand that some expats in France run UK-registered cars for years, not bothering with the French equivalent of the MOT, or UK road tax. I hope this young woman isn't one of them!
The police in the area where my father lives have had a couple of crack downs - and insisting on the owner producing the full UK paperwork. This means a mad dash back to the UK to get an MOT and road tax. And a major problem when the old heaps fail to pass.0 -
this is another one of those threads where the OP come on for a "friend" doesn't like the replies and are never seen again!!Everyones opinion is the most important.....no wonder nothing is ever agreed on.0
