I make money from the internet too, but its a skilled job. I choose my hours and yes its great, but if you haven't got a talent for wording, sales and marketing you can struggle.

I wouldn't spend my time with only surveys, but I like what PasturesNew said about getting your own site and making it your business, rather than someone elses, to recruit people. The only thing I would say, is that even building a free website takes time - and does it tell people you are a professional setup, or someone that doesn't want to / can't put money in to get a good website up and running. If you can't/won't spend money on it, you risk telling people that actually, this isn't such a good earner because I can't afford a decent website.

Also, marketing a website and writing good text is another expense, unless of course you know how to do it yourself....

I know people who live off their earnings from their Youtube channels.

You have to be a Youtube partner to earn money but it takes a good while to have a good channel and be accepted as a partner. I have a channel but i'm not a partner. I just make videos for fun.

It's not a get rick quick kinda thing, and people are never allowed to tell how much they earn from it. I would say it depends on the people, and the channel and how popular you are on Youtube. The more views, the more money you receive. For most people i'm guessing it's just a way to up their income, but I also watch people on Youtube who make their living from video blogging and tech reviewing and things like that.

Some years ago I remember reading a story about a woman who had given up her job as a waitress and intended making a living from entering slogan competitions. These were far more popular then. I personally knew Rita Smallburn who was known as 'The Competition Queen' . Rita was a highly intelligent woman whose gift with words had enabled her to take early retirement. She was also largely unique and the competition format that Rita was so good at has now largely disappeared.
I make my living from the internet as an online tutor. I have joined various survey sites and after answering absolutely everything that I could I have made a little money.
I make a lot more from my job, but I also trained for some ten years part time to be qualified to do it! There are no quick and easy ways to make money on the net without making some investment in time and/or money imo.

Do you mind me asking who you work for? I am a qualified teacher and would like to pick up some work this way as well, have done searches but haven't found anything reputable and most seem like US sites?

    whsmith surveys

I just tried to sign up for those, but when I entered my email address it said that address was already being used by a member.

I couldn't remember registering with them, or even hearing of them. So I hit the log in button and guess what came up in an iframe.........the crowdology login page. So I signed in and there was my crowdology account in a frame on the whsmith site.

Must admit I would rather spend my time trying to build an online business with a passive income rather than completing surveys and entering competitions. To me that seems like a lot of work, especially for something you'll have to do over and over again to make any decent money. That said, I can understand how, when first starting out, these things are attractive to people.

Yes with you there, seems like a waste - time is precious, use it to build something you can treasure and call your own...

Oh, I remember those slogan competitions - there used to be some fab prizes! Do they no longer have those? What a shame!

I no longer work because of ill health but I do many a little bit of money using The net to my advantage- writing reviews that pay and writing for other websites giving advice about various subjects. I don't earn enough to pay the mortgage but it's enough to buy a few take aways :)

I think you just have to find your talent and build on it - I write web copy, but have added to my portfolio because I've been lucky enough to be asked "can you try this too..." - like blogs etc - and its worked, so it's about building a business on one or a couple of things and avoiding just doing lots of things because they pay ... does that make sense?

The problem is if you have the mindset of wanting everything for free then, it will probably stop you from doing other things which may cost a little but will give you much better results. The mentality should be speculate to accumulate and my 3 year online journey has certainly told me that.
