I'm not sure you've posted this question in the correct forum - are you applying for an IVA or DRO?

As for phone calls, it depends on the bank. MBNA would call me within a week of my payment date if I hadn't made a payment. Others wouldn't ring me for ages - i'd either receive a letter or they'd just stick a late payment fee on my next bill.

It's a "how long is a piece of string" question, I am afraid. I had my first phone call (from MNBA) within a couple of days. Luckily I was in the IVA within a few weeks of stopping payments, so didn't have to put up with too many. As I recall only three of my creditors caught on early enough to bother phoning: MNBA. who phoned regularly but were pleasant, Egg, not so pleasant but only phoned once and the AA who only phoned to wish me luck!!

MBNA are the only creditor who have treated me with any compassion. All my other creditors ignored my requests to put interest and charges on hold for a couple of months and instead set solicitors and collection agencies on me. MBNA actually offered me the chance to make a settlement for a % of my debt. Unfortunately I am not in a position to that and had to tell them about my plan to get a DRO. Their response was 'Oh well, we're not going to chase you for money you haven't got'.

I had exactly the same experiences as Foggy. I was anticipating many calls, only had a few. My IVA provider was very helpful and, once the process has been started, all calls from creditors can be referred to the IVA practitioner.

    Good luck! x
  • The co op have been most persistant, 5 calls today on a Sunday i havent answered one call so far but i have kept in regular contact by letter and outlining my progression towards a joint IVA with my wife, i am now awaiting a proposal from my IP.

Put your phone on answer phone and let them ring, i will answer them when i have signed off on my porposal and sent it back to my IP and then to tell them the name address and Co details of my IP and they will be in touch for the 20 days ect.

I have a phone that has caller ID and if you ring the 0845/0800 numbers back they are required to tell you who's calling then put that number int your phone so you can screen them.
    working for me so far!

Strangly i keep getting calls from Scottish Power and i don't owe them a penny!.
