DDR Compatibility

I have read on a website - pretty reputable by all accounts - that my PC takes DDR PC3200 RAM and that it is backwards compatible with other DDR.

What I can't find anywhere is what the disadvantages are with using backward compatible RAM - I can save a small fortune using it but what effect will it have.

What are the differences between PC1600/PC2100/PC2700/PC3200?

Also what is DDR2?

I have a HP Pavillion with a Intel(R) Celeron(R) CPU 2.80GHz Model 4, Stepping 1 CPU. 2 slots (1 empty, 1 x 256MB).

Many thanks.

S.

If you currently have PC3200, you need to buy more PC3200 as this is the speed rating. More info about DDR2 here. PCwizard will tell you exactly what you have fitted.
