Doesn't work that way, sadly. They'll argue that there are only so many free copies available, and that all those have gone.
Same applies to hotels, airlines etc - plenty of seats/rooms, but only a very limited number of cheap ones. Hoxton Hotel £1 rooms a prime example.0 -
I don't think they made it very clear though that the offer was for a limited number of free ones and then a limited number of paid for ones.Doesn't work that way, sadly. They'll argue that there are only so many free copies available, and that all those have gone.

The way I understood the offer that they posted was that they were offering a limited number of free souvenir copies of the first and last papers and once they'd run out, that was it.
Not that they would then open the same offer again but charge for it.
Also they changed the offer to make it chargeable on Monday and vouchers that had been posted wouldn't have arrived with them that quickly.0 -
Has anyone received the free one yet? I have yet to find anyone who has got one.
I have a feeling that its all been a con and no one will get it free through the voucher. Probably after seeing how much that issue sold they thought we will quickly change the offer and make the voucher null and void!
By changing it so quickly (Monday) it would mean that all the vouchers wouldn't have even got there through the mail before the offer was over
I sent mine off Sunday morning right after buying the paper and I bet I will never get one! waste of a stamp!0 -
The small print suggests that it could take up to 28 days for delivery so I doubt may people will have recieved them yet.Has anyone received the free one yet? I have yet to find anyone who has got one.
But I hope they will use the email address that they ask for on the voucher to acknowledge that they have recieved the voucher and let us know whether we will get a free one or whether we need to pay to get a copy instead.
Of course if they leave it until after the 22nd July to let us know that we need to pay, the offer will have ended.
Has anyone had any email confirmation from News of the World?0 -

The email is simply for them to news international to promote other stuff and probably to sell on.Thought for the day: each generation of mankind tends to hug the illusion of having reached the culmination of human achievement. How very true.
There was an opt-in box for 'Yes, I would like to hear about great offers.........etc etc' but I can't see them bothering too much about that!
What I really liked, though, was the bit at the bottom - 'Please see our privacy policy'.
Privacy policy? News International? Ha ha ha!!! :rotfl:0 -

Haven't heard anything from NOTW yet about whether my voucher has been accepted or not.
Should I just assume I'm not going to get a free one and apply for the paid one aswell just in case?0 -

Impossible to say - depends how badly you want a copy. My guess is there won't be many (if any) free copies going out - it's not as if they're going to be too bothered about the bad PR as things stand now!0
