Name abbreviation - Ryanair

My brother has just sent me his booking confirmation for the holiday he is going on tomorrow. It is booked with On The Beach, flights with Ryanair. I see he has used a shortened version of his girlfriend's first name. It is a very common abbreviation.

Will they have to pay to get it changed? I haven't told him about this yet as I don't want to worry him. I have no idea why he didn't put her full name.

If he has the Ryanair booking reference then it might be worth calling them to change it as they are normally good at changing an obvious error free of charge as this is not an actual name change.

Edit - I see he is going tomorrow so not a lot of time left to get it done unless he phones first thing.

Thank you. I'm going to call him first thing tomorrow, I don't want to say anything now or he will worry all night.

Does anyone know if they may be able to board with the shortened name or will she have to buy a new ticket?
