Overseas items - best way to package?

I've recently sold a few items of clothing on ebay, the UK ones I have sent in mailing bags with no issues.

I now have a buyer from the US and was wondering if a mailing bag is sufficient for the longer/possibly rougher journey it's going to have. Has anyone bought clothing from the US? What sort of packaging was it in and did the packaging survive the journey OK?

I package my overseas items exactly the same as my UK items. So for light items, including clothes it is a thin bag inside a thicker postal plastic bag. For my china and glass it always go in a thick sturdy box with lots of padding.

  • Thanks, that's what I'd done (not sent yet as waiting for them to pay!). I've put it in a thin clear poly bag and then put that inside a purpose built mailing bag. Wasn't sure if that was going to be strong enough so good to see that this is the norm.

As you didn't say 'I've put it inside a shopping bag and that inside a black bin bag' you should be fine :)
