Car Giant - Haggling ?

I have a seen a car that i want costing 5,799 . I would like to pay only 5k - can i haggle at cg - I can get the same car cheap private but 185 miles away. would like to buy from a garage just in case anything goes wrong i would have some body to sue.

    course you can... if they don't want to sell for any less then they won't but they won't just offer it for less if you don't try to haggle.

    Think you will find there prices are fixed and they want you to use there finance as well to make more money!!!

    I have plans on paying cash -- I de-test finance on cars. They say cash is king - (Not sure if that is still valid nowadays)

    you could always try haggling the price down with the intention to use finance and then pay the finance off straight away?

    True words from a wise man - imagine haggling down to about 4500 and then paying off immediately. What about the possibility of backdated interest

    Garages are typically only getting £500-£600 profit on a used car so there may not be the room to negotiate it down to what you want.

    You could always take a day or two to 'think about it' so you can call the finance company and see if there's any penalty from settling up early.

    Bit of a dangerous thing to say to the OP. What if there are early termination fees. Sometimes the full interest is due less a small settlement amount.
