Can I please have some tips for making my kids' trampoline safe
It's a Triang 10ft, with a safety net.
It has 3 u shaped legs to support it. One of them keeps turning in.
It's not helped by my garden being a bit uneven. I gave up and got my brother to help me, and he broke 2 bolts, which I have now replace.
My main question is, I will be buying a tether kit on Monday, but is it normal for the trampoline to move across the garden by a few inches?
Plus, the protecting cover blew off on the first night and it got soaking wet. I have had to put 5 big stones on it,. to keep it on.
Any tips please would be a great help.
I don't know anyone with a trampoline to ask.
Thanks

Not happy at all now
The trampoline has been out of bounds, till I bought a couple of new bolts.
I had put a couple of longer bolts in the trampoline, just to hold it up, until I could get the new bolts replaced.
My kids were told DON'T GO ON IT!!!!!!
I have undone the replacement bolts, to find the metal holders/brackets on one leg, that join the legs to the frame, are both bent and are useless.
So I now have to order some new brackets from Triang
I feel like taking it apart and putting it in the loft now0 -
Hi
We have this trampoline and have had no problems with it. Weirdly if you have the struts and safety net on, how did you get the safety cover on? The net should stop it being put on. Also with the cover beware of it filling with water, I've had to perforate ours to let water through during the winter.
If you need pics of ours happy to post anything, no issues with it moving or the legs though.
Good luck.0 -
I never got that far, to put the safety net on. When my brother in law tried to put the net enclosure on, it was way out. It was leaning outwards.
I thought it was the way he did it, and when he left, I redid that leg. Still bent and I found the t bars that hold onto the leg, were bent on that side.
They must have been like that or now I think about it, he put it on cockeyed and they bent.
A picture of the joint would be great thanks! the other legs are ok. just this one side.0 -
Don't let two on there at the same time ..
my niece broke her arm when she collided with her sister
that happens often on these things.
they are not as safe as you think , even when properly set up.
all the best.markj0 -
Any decent trampoline should never have a safety net as the jump will be higher than the net. Children kebabed on the safety poles don't look very pretty. Also nets teach them nothing.0

Trampolines can be lethal, even with a safety net that's high enough. They are not a toy."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0

There is a big difference between competition trampolining in a safe gym environmenet surrounded by crash mats and a fun trampoline in the garden. The enclosures provide a much safer environment especially for younger children. If they are jumping above the top part of the enclosure they are jumping too high.
I bet most accidents on these are because children are often left to themselves and end up two or three or more bouncing away - a recipe for disaster.
As far as OP is concerned it sounds as though either you have faulty parts or its a cheap one that has been forced when constructed or overtightened etc. Ours is on a very slight slope and doesn't move at all and no tie down kit0 -
Sorted! i tried ringing Traing (from the number on the box) no such number
I rang another number from the internet, that distributes trampolines from Traing to TJ Hughes, another dead number
Rang TJ Hughes main office, who took my query, left me waiting, then hung up.
Did what I should have done in the first place, rang my local TJ Hughes.
Result!!!!! They said drop in and we will sort it. They had a bag of odd bits and pieces from the Ultimate 10ft trampoline.
Fitted and perfect now. It must have been a faulty bracket.
Thanks for the help :j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j:j0 -
update
The leg is still bending inwards . If I tighten the bolts, they snap off.
The metal pole that goes in the t-brackets, that hold the legs onto the big round frame, are bent and not fitting right, so the leg bends inward and the trampoline is not safe to go on.
I feel like I have thrown £115 down the drain.
TJ Hughes are in administration, so I don't know what my rights are
My sister says to go in and make a scene and ask for a new one, or my money back (they have none left in the shop now anyway)
The chap in the shop told me to sort it with the manufacturer.
Any ideas pleas on what to do next?
Maybe I could drive some metal bars, or stakes into the ground, to hold the leg straight.
Please give me some advice0 -
If you garden is sloping then try and sink the level of the other legs so that it is more level. If pressure is being out on one of the three legs because its uneven or pointing down hill this may be why its causing bending over that leg.
Although the reatailer should deal with any faults for you, in this case you are unlikely to get much joy so i would go straight to manufacturer with issues and demand a replacemnt0
