Transferring contacts to new phone

Just got a new phone, Galaxy Ace which is locked in to T-mobile. So it won't read my sim card from my old phone to transfer the contacts. Is there anyway I can do this, or is it a case of adding them all manually?

    Samsung monte. It is unlocked but I was using an o2 sim card with it.

    if it's unlocked, copy your contacts to that and then put your new sim card in and.........................................

    Oh right so I put my new sim card into old phone and copy the files. God I am so dim sometimes
