EDF Cooling off period and Energy helpline
I was on on EON FOL 8 which finished on 1 July.
I have changed to EDF Dual fuel Fixed saver2
on 22nd June I did some comparisons and chose to go with Energy Helpline as they said they would hold the application until 1 July to avoid EON charges for leaving early
Quote from email
(We will only send off your application to EDF Energy on or after Friday, 1st July 2011 to avoid incurring any cancellation penalties.)end quote
I received my contract from EDF on July 4th
I thought my 12 days cooling off period would start from 1 July, wrong !
At the bottom of the contract agreement it says I could cancel the contract within 12 days in signature box it says 'as agreed over the internet' Date : 22.06.2011
It expired on the day I received the contract.
I am having serious doubts about EDF after reading all the comments and bad reviews, I am locked in now so I will have to see how it goes.(or pay £50 to leave) I have an online account not filled in yet with any details, my start date should be in about 3 weeks.
I am posting this in case anyone else makes the same mistake about cancellation.l
Like others I have been very happy with EON good customer services, web site worked well ,just wish they could have had a different fixed tariff .
