Hi we are looking to book our first Pontins holiday as a family. Could anyone help please?
Which accommodation would you recommend the club, classic or popular? Not sure as there seems to be so much to consider. Any other advice would also be greatly appreciated Thank you

We used Pontins a few times when we really couldn't afford much else but I have to admit it wasn't the best holidays we had everything is grubby and dingy.... if you treat the place as a base just for sleeping and take your own bedding go for the club class accommodation..#6 of the SKI-ers Club :j

The thing about pontins accomodation is that it really is very basic,if you only intend to use it as a base to eat and sleep though it is entirely possible to have a nice holiday there.
The reason we go there is simply because i cannot travel further to anywhere else and because my father in law pays for it but despite all of the awful reviews it gets the children absolutely love it there.
I personally prefer classic, the only real difference between that and budget is that you get a shower where in budget you get a bath tub and with classic your bedding is included but they will charge £10 per appartment for bedding if you go budget (you can take your own).
In club you get a nicer kettle,a microwave oven, clean towels provided and free electricity and you can check in at 2pm instead of 4pm but with all levels of accomodation you are welcome in from the morning to use their facilities like the bar, pool, play areas and face painting etc so you wont be left with nothing to do and club is expensive.
Also the higher the level of accomodation the closer it will be to the main function building,if you specifically ask for a ground floor appartment they charge £5 for that but if your children are very young and going up the steps would be very awkward tell them and they usually take that fee off.
If you get there and find anything is wrong go straight to reception and tell them,i have seen people find things are missing or that their appartment isn't spotless and leave after an hour when all you really need to do is go and tell them.
We have had 4 holidays there and always had a great time, last year the appartment wasn't very clean though, the fridge broke after we switched it on and there were glasses and plates missing,i went to reception, politely explained and it was all fixed within the hour and we were budget that time.
Pontins is not luxury and i do understand that some people have horrible experiences there but i never have,i think it's what you make it really and for a low cost holiday that keeps the children happy i am more than happy to carry on going there.
Also it is worth haggling about the price,i said it sounded quite expensive although it was what i was expecting to be quoted and he went off spoke to the manager and came back with a price that was £200 less than the first quote so it never hurts to try.0 -

if you are going up that way, i'd recommend Lyons Robin Hood in Rhyl. Much nicer0

Haven have a park at Prestatyn if it's North Wales you are looking for and there's also a good Park Resorts site in that area - Ty Mawr nr Abegele if you are happy with caravans. Both have good reputations and loads for kids to do.0

Sorry for using an old thread but it seems appropriate.
We have just returned from our 'Sun' holiday in Pontins Prestatyn.
Yes I was dreading it after reading Trip Advisor & Watchdog featured.
:j Well I can honestly say it was excellent.
The Club (upgraded through fear) apartment was spotless, beds nice & firm, fresh towels & cotton bedlinen. The services people were helpful with towel changing, extra fork etc.
About ¼ of the site was being renovated whilst we were there. New flooring, windows, furnishings, cookers, decorating - all going on. At least they are actually trying to improve.
I would certainly go back as it was a great base for touring North Wales. We went up the Great Orme by tram & down by cable car. Went via Mersey Tunnel to Crosby to see Anthony Gormley's Another Place.
Can't comment on entertainment as I got fed up by 11pm of waiting for Lady Gaga tribute, after umpteen rounds of Bingo & unfunny Dave :cool:Our Family Motto ~If all else fails - read the instructions...
