Warning about Budget Insurance

I missed a direct debit payment with Budget Insurance, they sent a letter saying they would ask for it again. I now know that through a mix up at the bank it didn't get paid. I didn't know this until I received a letter saying that the policy had been cancelled and over £600 was owing(the rest of the payments on the agreement plus charges). No letter had been sent warning me of cancellation(they said they did but I didn't get one). I paid what I owed (it was my mistake) although it wouldn't re-instate the policy. I thought that was a very heavy slap on the wrist for one missed payment BUT it was just the beginning.........
They quoted me to renew the policy at OVER TWICE THE PRICE (an extra £1300.00), way too expensive for me, so I went looking elsewhere for new insurance. NO CHANCE..... NOW NO-ONE (except Budget at an exhorbitant price)WILL INSURE ME BECAUSE I HAVE TO BE HONEST AND TICK THE BOX WHICH SAYS HAVE YOU EVER HAD AN INSURANCE POLICY REFUSED OR CANCELLED but doesn't ask why.
Please be warned don't make the same mistake as me it will cost you dearly

Have you approached a local broker who will be able to listen to the circumstances or just used comparison sites?0
