Lack of Fire Wall

I've just been up in my loft for the first time since I bought my house three years ago and noticed that there isn't a wall between my house and my neighbour's house. Now, she a nice woman and I feel pretty sure that she's not planning any kind of raid on my Christmas decorations but I'm a bit worried that, as well as leaving me open to fire spreading, my house might be un-mortgageable. Is this the case?

How old is the house? Many old houses have this 'feature' It's not unmortgageable.
Although your current neighbour might be a nice person future owners or tenants might be less reputable. Apart from fire, someone could easily drop through your ceilings and pinch things.
In council blocks of flats with common lofts, stealing electricity from neighbours was well established. Nowadays concealed CCTV cameras peeking into bedrooms is another risk.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
