Can anyone suggest a good program for audio formatting.
I have some recorded audio that needs tweaking. I know it won't be perfect but want to try and improve as best as possible.
Thanks in advance.

I'll second Audacity. Easy to use and lots of filters for enhancing audio such as hiss removal.0

One of the most useful apps for audio is http://www.goldwave.com/ but it will cost you $19 for a year. Depends what tweaking you want to do.604!0

An excellent audio editor and tweaking program. It takes some learning to get the best out of your material but well worth it.
Another (less well kinown) program I find very useful is "MP3 Direct Cut" http://mpesch3.de1.cc/mp3dc.html
This isn't quite in the same area as Audacity but if you have MP3 files to trim and adjust it is just the job.0 -

Hi,
Sorry for bringing up an old thread but I have another music related question.
A friend of mine has given me a CD of recordings from his old band, however it is not the master which has since been destroyed.
He wants to separate the various tracks as they were originally played, i.e. separate the vocals, the guitars, drums etc.
Can anyone recommend any suitable software that may be able to do this. Have tried Audacity but I think this may be beyond it's capabilities. It's probably beyond most softwares capabilities TBH.[SIZE=-1]To equate judgement and wisdom with occupation is at best . . . insulting.

It's probably impossible. If what you have is a mixed-down version of the track(s), it's unlikely to be achievable.
Think of a cup of tea or coffee. Add milk. Mix. Now try and separate the milk from the tea or coffee. That's essentially what you're trying to do.0 -
