Another letter from Clydesdale-need more time

Got another letter from the Clydesdale Bank this morning stating they need more time to investigate my PPI claim(8 weeks has passed). The letter also states-if I wish-I can refer the complaint to the ombudsman.Would much prefer to let the Clydesdale investigate to a conclusion first.
Anyone else been in this position?

Hiya
This is standard at the moment, most banks are given extra time by the FSA - in order as well to deal with thebacklog.
They have to enclose details of the FOS, this is standard procedure to give you that option.
Personally I would sit it out a little longer, good luck.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
I agree with Di it seems to be standard from the banks at the moment, however, Cydesdale and Yorkshire Bank weren't part of the extension's but it looks as if everyone is jumping on the band wagon with that excuse. You could try emailing the ceo who is now David Thorburn. Try david.thorburn@eu.nabgroup.com or david.thorburn@cbonline.co.uk you may get a reply from customer engagement. Thanks to all the competition posters.0

Hi there, even before the court case the banks could send you a letter to ask for more time or tell you to go to FOS,this is nothing new and nothing to do with the court case.
Give them the time they ask for and hopefully it will not be too much longer for you to get a result.0 -
Marcos, yeah I've been in the same situation, although our reply which is at 8 weeks will come next Tuesday, I gave them an extra few days at the four week period before emailing, as discussed in another thread with yourself, I'm hoping that there will be something more forthcoming, and won't go to the FOS unless I get a rejection, I'm sure you're the same.
CB/YB weren't one of the banks that had their extension of deadline's to 16 weeks, because they weren't part of the JR, but they don't use that excuse when writing to us, they just say they need more time but if you don't want to wait you can go to the FOS, use the email address for customer service and if you want you can change the start to David.Thorburn@ for the CEO, I certainly intend to do just that next week, and after that week I will send at least one email a week to him and customer service asking for an update till I get somewhere.
Will keep you updated if I hear anything else. Thanks to all the competition posters.0 -

Hi there guys my partner is claiming Clydesdale Bank for ppi for a loan and a credit card with them, he is using one of those companies that do it for you as his is a complex kind of case and we weren't sure if how it would work out, however he recieved a letter from Clydesdale Bank on the 20th of June saying that they will be back in touch within 4 weeks, yesterday he received a letter from them offering him 44 pounds for charges incurred on his credit card for the last 6 years. This was due to being charged 3 late payment fees on his credit card account , i called the lawyer dealing with his case and he says they are still investigating the PPI, so i see some of you have had a letter saying to give them more time, when did you receive this letter was it just around when the four weeks time was up?0

I received my first letter just after the first four weeks, then another one after 8 weeks, although I had emailed them in regards to this, and the letter arrived a couple of days later asking for another few weeks to continue their investigation, the letter was dated on the 8th week anniversary, but arrived a whole week later.
Due final decision if they are working to this timetable in the middle of next week and praying for a find in our favour.
Also have 5 complaints in against RBS, and a credit card with Bank of Scotland.
Good luck and keep us posted. Thanks to all the competition posters.0
